Summer is all about enjoying the sunshine, embracing outdoor activities, and finding
ways to stay cool and refreshed. Whether it’s humid and you’re trying to calm your frizzy hair or
trying to find a foundation that won’t melt off your face in the hot sun, there are many beauty
essentials that can help make the transition into summer easier. From the correct SPF to the
best hair care products, we’ve got you covered!
When looking for an SPF that is good for your face, there are a few things to keep an
eye out for. First, what is the strength of SPF? Second, is it easy to reapply? Third, are the
ingredients comedogenic (cause acne)? Lastly, can it be applied over makeup? The Shiesdo
Clear Sunscreen Stick has SPF 50+ and is broad-spectrum which means it does not only
protect against UVB rays but also UVA rays, which cause aging. This SPF can be applied over
or under makeup, and is reef-friendly, which means it does not contain ingredients that harm our
oceans. The website claims that this is a non-comedogenic product, and after reviewing the
ingredients, it looks like there are no pore-clogging ingredients. This product is $30 for 0.7 oz,
which means it is higher end than most sunscreens. A more affordable face SPF is the Daily UV
Defense Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 36 by Innisfree. This SPF is $16 for 1.69 oz of product
and is meant to be reapplied every 2 hours, as compared to the Shiseido SPF, which needs to
be reapplied every 80 minutes. The Innisfree SPF is also a non-comedogenic product and it is
meant to be used under makeup, not applied on top. Despite this slight drawback, for the price
you are getting great ingredients and great sun protection, with no pore-clogging ingredients.
Once our skin is protected from the sun, it’s time to move on to hair care! In the summer,
trying to manage frizzy, dry hair can be a lot to tackle. The best product will be different for
everyone because everyone has different hair lengths, types, and preferences. If you are
someone with oily or fine hair, you are going to need products that are lighter than someone
with dry or very long hair, who is going to need products that are moisturizing. The best product
for those with oily, but frizzy hair is the Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-In-1 Hair Primer. It claims to
strengthen hair, reduce frizz, and is a heat protectant which is great if you are someone that
uses heat on your hair. The reason I love this product is not only because it makes hair so silky
smooth, but because it smells great, and has great ingredients, like sunflower and argan oil. It is
also safe to use on colored or treated hair. At only $13 for 5.4 oz, this product is a steal. An
amazing product to use for dry or coarse hair is the No. 3 Hair Perfector by Olaplex. This
product contains jojoba oil, which is very moisturizing and stimulates the scalp which leads to
increased hair growth. This product is also great if you have hair that is damaged from being
lightened or colored. It costs $30 for 3.3 oz, which is slightly more expensive than the Eva NYC
product. However, this Olaplex product is supposed to be used once weekly or less often as
needed, whereas the Eva NYC product can be used daily.
Even in the midst of summer, it's important to maintain a put-together appearance. The It
Cosmetics CC Cream Foundation has SPF 50+ and is incredibly full coverage even though it
feels so light on the skin. Because it is a CC cream, it contains ingredients that are good for our
skin, rather than just concealing imperfections like a normal foundation. Hyaluronic acid is great
for hydration, while niacinamide and Vitamin E create a smooth canvas for the product to sit on.
This product is $47 for 1.08 oz, which is considered to be high-end. This CC cream lasts all day,
even in the summer, and if you set it with powder, it should surely last into the night as well. At a
better price point, the Colourpop Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturizer runs at $15 for 1.45 oz. The

Colourpop product is one I have been using for a while now, and every time I wear it I get
compliments on how great my skin looks. Now, my skin has many imperfections, but this
product smoothes and covers exactly what it needs to while providing a glowy finish. It lasts all
day, even for those with oily skin, like myself.
Overall, these products will help you greatly in the summer to manage your sweat,
health, and overall appearance! From protecting our skin with SPF-infused products to
experimenting with lightweight formulas, the key is to prioritize self-care while enjoying the
warmth and beauty that summer brings. By incorporating these recommendations into our
beauty routines, we can confidently embrace the warm days ahead, feeling beautiful, refreshed,
and ready to make the most of this season.
