Feed the Kids is working to fight childhood hunger with their 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be held Monday, August 8, at the Springfield Country Club, 1375 Elm Street, West Springfield. The event also features an online auction, which is open now through the day of the tournament. Proceeds from the events will go towards organizations in the area working to ensure children do not go hungry including No Kid Hungry, the Holyoke School Backpack Program, Pioneer Valley Powerpacks and Square One.
“This tournament gives individuals and businesses the chance to help children across our region,” said Dr. Frederick Kadushin, co-chair of Feed the Kids. “While registration for golf has closed, people can still make a donation or participate in our online auction. All the money raised will go towards four incredibly beneficial organizations.”
No Kid Hungry is a national organization that raises funds to support school breakfast programs, summer meals, after school meals and more for children throughout the country. The Holyoke School Backpack Program and Pioneer Valley Powerpacks distribute bags of nutritious and easy-to-prepare meals to children at the end of each week to enjoy over the weekend. Square One provides a range of family-friendly educational opportunities and support services.
“Through the past four tournaments, we raised more than $200,000 for these incredibly deserving charities,” continued Kadushin. “We are especially grateful to our generous sponsors including AAA Northeast, Elm Electric and Gfeller Laurie, LLP.”
Check-in for the scramble format Feed the Kids Charity Golf Tournament on August 8 will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a shotgun start at 12:30 a.m. The online auction is open now and participants do not need to be present at the tournament to win.
