Hey sassy gals! There’s nothing I hate more than dry, chapped, flaky lips. These harsh winter months can really dry out our lips and make wearing lip products a drag. No one likes chapped lips; not only are they unattractive but also painful and uncomfortable. Luckily, there are a few easily remedies to cure your sassy pucker from any type of dryness!

A lip scrub will be your new best friend. Just when you thought exfoliating was strictly for the face – you were wrong. Your lips need to be exfoliated as well! Having a good lip scrub as part of your nightly routine is an absolute must. Companies such as Fresh and Lush make amazing sugar lip scrubs, however making your own is super simple and inexpensive. Simple mix together brown sugar, coconut oil, and honey to make your own home made lip exfoliant! Use as needed and your lips will surely appreciate it.

Follow up your exfoliation with a super intense lip treatment. Chapstick and regular lip balm are great for keeping your lips hydrated throughout the day, but overnight your lips are craving a deeper treatment. Apply a generous layer of a thick lip treatment (even Vaseline will do) and let your lips soak up the moisture over night! When you wake up in the morning your chapped lips will be a thing of the past!

Hey sassy gals! This upcoming spring season is definitely one for the books. The spring 2013 trends are very daring and will help any woman stand out in a crowd. These trends are surely a welcome change from the ever-popular, cliche pastels and soft florals that are usually associated with spring.

It’s all about taking a walk on the wild side and being a little more daring in spring 2013. Normally, leather is reserved for the colder months but this season leather in all colors is going to be all the rage. Jackets, skirts, and pants in both traditional neutrals and bright colors are ultra trendy and a great way to stylishly keep warm on chilly spring days.

Bold stripes are another Not only are horizontal stripes in style, but channel your inner referee with the new vertical stripes that are seen in so many stores. Pant suits, tops, bermuda shorts, jackets, and blazers have been spotted on the runways in eye-catching stripes that will surely put all eyes on you.

As far as colors go, the bolder the better. Bright electric colors have been appearing all over the runways so bid your girly pastels farewell! This season bright pants are an absolute must and there are plenty of colors and prints to choose from. A simple way to add color to a drab spring wardrobe without breaking the bank is with jewelry! Just adding a necklace or a chunky cuff bracelet to any outfit is inexpensive, super easy, and will keep you trendy this spring season!

Hey sassy gals! Please tell me I am not the only one that has been IN LOVE with leather lately. It seems as though every celebrity and fashionista has been going gaga for all-leather-everything lately, and I have definitely hopped on the bandwagon!

A classic leather jacket is such a great piece to invest in. Whether it be a black motorcycle style leather jacket to compliment your edgy style or a tailored brown leather jacket, it is a simple way to pull any outfit together and still be winter appropriate.

Leather pants and leggings have also been a a huge trend lately that I’ve been absolutely loving. They’re so effortlessly chic and add just the right amount of edge to any outfit. Treat them as if they were a plain pair of versatile black jeans or leggings that you’d wear everyday. They’re just as functional but a whole lot more stylish.

Go out and get some sassy leather pieces, sassy gals!

With the winter season in full swing, we’d be lying to ourselves if we said that there were no bad hair days or laziness involved. Some days hair can look totally flat and lifeless, with no volume at all from being dried out in the cold winter air. Other days, hair can look a tad bit greasy and can also fall flat. Granted, it is winter and hats may do the trick to cover a bad hairdo, but you can’t hide under a hat forever! Luckily, all of these problems are not easily solved with a miracle product readily available on the market.

Dry shampoo is the holy grail product that everyone should have in their hair product collection. It can help save flat, fine hair from being volume less and stringy by adding a few sprays to the roots and rubbing it in vigorously. This will provide ample volume and will soak up any extra oils weighing the hair down.

If extra oils are a big problem for you, dry shampoo is definitely the way to go for oily scalped people. Washing your hair every day can be extremely drying and detrimental on the hair follicles. Rather than putting your hair through that kind of torture, simply spray a generous amount of dry shampoo at the roots and rub it in to see an immediate difference. This will help prolong the period of time between washes and diminish the greasy look at the roots.

Practically every hair care brand has a dry shampoo. Very inexpensive, yet still effective, dry shampoos include the Suave and Tresseme dry shampoos available at all drugstores. A little pricier but still fairly inexpensive and accessible is the Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo which is available at Walmart. In that same price range is the Batiste dry shampoo. As we scale up the price range ladder, the Rockaholic dry shampoos are next in line price-wise. Finally at a higher end price range, Oscar Blandi offers a variety of dry shampoos and even has one specifically formulated for brunette hair !

Year after year, it seems that there is hardly any variety in the Valentine’s Day sweet treats that are baked for loved ones. Instead of opting for the cliché brownies or frosted cookies, why not try some- thing a little out of the ordinary? This recipe for homemade Valentine’s Day pretzel M&M kisses that will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth and salty cravings!

All the ingredients that are needed for this super simple recipe are: pretzels (preferably heart shaped), Hershey’s Kisses, and pink and red M&M’s.

First preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Meanwhile, take some pretzels and spread them out all over a cooking tray. Then place the Hershey’s Kisses on top of each pretzel and pop the tray into the oven and watch carefully until the chocolate is starting to melt. Be cautious that the Kisses don’t get too runny!

Next take the tray out of the oven and start placing the M&M candies on top of each melted Hershey Kiss covered pret- zel. Then place in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens and sets.

After the treats are ready feel free to put them in decorative tins or bags and give your kisses away to your friends or your special someone this Valentine’s Day!

Hey Sassy Gals! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I can’t help but feel as if many of us are just not as excited about it as we used to be. Seems as if everything has already been done and there is just not much to look forward to anymore. Although traditions are cute and romantic, sticking to the same restaurant or going to the movies every year can get pretty old after a while. Spicing things up this Valentine’s Day can make the holiday itself more enjoyable for both you and your special someone, but may also add an extra spark to your relationship.

As a two-in-one Valentine’s Day gift and date idea, give your loved one the gift of a wonderful trip somewhere for the holiday. A trip to the ski resort for Valentine’s Day or even a day trip to the “Big Apple” would be a wonderful gift but also an exciting date for the two of you. Go somewhere that you have never been before and simply explore. Try something new and add some excitement into the day as well as your relationship.

Ladies, it’s time to channel your inner Rachel Ray and become a chef for the night. Either prepare your loved one a delicious romantic dinner for two or make the dinner into a date night activity and prepare it together! Try out new recipes and bake fun Valentine’s Day desserts for you two to share.

If you’re daring enough: go outside! Embrace the cold February weather and step out of your comfort zone. Be daring and avoid cliche dates by taking your special someone on a romantic walk in a park or take a walk down memory lane and go sledding! Rather than a ”been there, done that” dinner and movie, an invigorating date spend outside will work up an appetite for a delicious meal and lots of romance!

Happy New Years sassy gals! I hope everyone celebrated in style last night. Lets hope that 2013 will bring you all everything you hope for and more! You know what they say “new year, new you!”

Ringing in the new year just wouldn’t be the same without making a longwinded list of resolutions that no one plans to keep past January. Nevertheless, establishing your New Years Resolutions for the year is a fun and motivational part of the holiday.

This year, let’s focus on making our goals more attainable. I’m not saying not to dream big, but the best way to achieve your goals for the new year is to make your goals achievable. Setting vague and hard to achieve goals like “lose weight” or “stop eating junk food” will be hard to start and hard to stick to. Rather than that, take baby steps at achieving your major goal by first cutting out soda or trying to avoid sweets and gradually upping the anti.

What are your new years resolutions?

This is the time to forget about petty, everyday problems and simply relax and enjoy your family time. Granted, there may be some running around for last minute gifts or rushing to finish your Christmas dinner, but I hope most of your holiday is spent peacefully and full of joy! Hopefully Santa will bring everyone lots of happiness and success this year! (Along with a few small gifts..)

To all those who don’t celebrate Christmas I hope that whichever holiday you do celebrate is wonderful or simply that you have a great day!

Happy holidays everyone!
