Megen Navone, Staff Writer
Many Colleges and Universities all across the Western Mass Area have expanded their course offerings to students interested in majors such as business, law, nursing and communications. Western New England University in Springfield Massachusetts has continued with the success of their 2008 launch of its first PhD program in Behavior Analysis. According to the WNEU 2012-2013 Catalogue, the 40 million dollar Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy, which was known for it’s very determined construction plan was finally finished in 2011. A second doctoral program was welcomed to the university this past fall, the PhD in Engineering Management.
American International College has recently taken upon a new adaption to the Communication Department. Digital Photography Professor John Nordell, Video Production Professor Marty Langford and Communication Media Professor Jamina Scippio-McFadden have joined the Communications family at AIC within the past year. “Digital Photography was a fun and beneficial class this semester, Professor Nordell did an incredible job adapting to us (students) and sharing his experience as a professional Photographer with us”, said Communications major, Phoebe Lettington. This, being Nordell’s first semester teaching the Digital Photography course as AIC has been just as fun for him as it has been for the students. “I want the student to grasp a core understanding of Digital Photography- it’s not only what you see-it’s how you interpret it. I’ve really enjoyed hearing students’ own interpretations,” Nordell explained.
The Communications department at AIC hopes to grow and develop with the addition of new faces that has been welcomed to campus this past year. New classes focused in New Media, Photography and Video Production will be seen in the near future of 2013. |
